![]() Let's just hope the main game lives up to the hype when it releases some time in 2022. The fact it can still ramp up excitement is a testament to the art style and gameplay we've seen so far. Little Devil Inside comes away from State of Play as the most unique game showcased despite little being known about what it's actually about. Outside of these details, we still don't know a whole lot, but I like it that way. We also know that Billy is a 19th-century adventurer-for-hire who travels around the world exploring supernatural phenomena while trying to survive, with the overall aim being to fill an encyclopedia of sorts of creatures and occurrences. There's no fast travel in Little Devil Inside but, from what we've seen, exploring and traveling appear to be part of the fun. Following the event, a PlayStation Blog post explained that, regardless of the mission at hand, Billy will be able to explore the world map either on foot, on mule, in vehicles, or on a train. While the trailers have been somewhat confusing but brilliant, outside of State of Play there has been some light shed on Little Devil Inside. It's utterly bizarre and, as someone who is usually pretty invested in the narrative, I don't even care what the story is - I just want to jump into this gothic, occasionally miniature world. The trailer moves quite quickly after that, not telling us too much but revealing sandy and snow-clad worlds, a cooking feature, and. We then cut to Billy fighting angry marshmallows that look like they've swallowed a bunch of magician scarves, with the narrator telling us that, since the mansion incident, stuff like this keeps happening to Billy - poor Billy. The trailer quickly moves on after that, but that moment appears to be the kick-off of the story. We see this as Billy goes to the mansion, which simply screams "horror movie", with tight-angled views and tentacle-like scribbles across the wall, before being tricked by what seems to be the owner who pushed him into a pool with a monster. The aesthetic overall is beautifully niche, adding a wholesomeness to a game that seems to embrace its dark side too. Instead, it appears to adopt a more real-time third-person gameplay view, which in itself is also unique, with the characters looking almost figurine-like. The main gameplay isn't like this though. There you’ll be able to talk with NPCs and gather information about your next destination, which is apparently very important as it’ll dictate what kind of gear you’ll need to bring.Billy can interact with the other large (in comparison to the other elements of the world) people and encounters he comes across, with the trailer showing him asking an old lady for directions and trying to move some sheep out of the road. In between missions, you’ll find yourself at the main town in the game, which acts as the hub. ![]() There is also an upgrade system that players can take part in where you can not only upgrade your means of transportation but also your weapons and armor. For a game that doesn’t look very realistic, it seems rather immersive. You use little miniatures to guide your way around obstacles or possible interactions in the world. Traveling across the map involves quite literally traveling across the world map of the game. The gameplay itself looks similar to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Bloodborne and Ghost of Tsushima, taking the camera angle from Zelda, the grittiness from Bloodborne and the cinematic swordplay from Ghost.Īs far as braving the wilds are concerned, you have a tent and cooking equipment that you can use to fill up on food and water. Your weaponry is rather diverse, as the developers provide you with a sword, shield, gun, grappling hook and bombs. Little Devil Inside is a third-person action-adventure game that not only focuses on cinematic combat but also deals with survival elements and open-world exploration. In The Witcher, Geralt gets treated like shit and gets paid like shit despite being one of the most notable monster hunters in the world. ![]() Notably, the world of Little Devil Inside seems cruel to its heroes, similar to The Witcher. In one of the trailers, we are introduced to what accepting a job looks like, and that led to almost being sacrificed to some kraken-looking fellow. Just from the trailers alone, we already know that Billy is literally traveling everywhere imaginable, from tropical areas and barren deserts to the middle of the ocean and an icy tundra. ![]() The game will explore the mundane parts of an adventurer’s life, such as financial inequality. Neostream states that the game is meant to take a satirical angle on the video game cliché of monster hunting, which makes sense given that the trailer looked a lot like if Bloodborne and Monster Hunter had a baby.
